Queer gathering in Dilijan. Countering backlash in human rights

At the beginning of September 2025, activists from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine met to reconnect around shared values, understand the growing anti-gender backlash, and think together about how to support each other. We talked about the forces shaping our work today, from far-right mobilization and online hatred to colonial legacies to today’s geopolitical games. We also spoke openly about safety, resistance, and what it means to keep going under authoritarian pressure.

People shared personal and political stories about identity, fear, courage and community. We challenged the narratives meant to divide us and imagined what collective action could look like when we refuse to be silenced or manipulated.

It was a reminder that our situations may differ, but our struggles are connected, and together, we are stronger, louder, and harder to push back.
