At the beginning of October, the Eastern European Coalition for LGBT+ Equality joined the annual ILGA-Europe Conference in Dublin, where LGBT+ activists and organisations came together under this year’s theme, “Resist and Rise”.
As part of the conference, Coalition members Eka Tsereteli, Hripsime Kizogyan and Leo Zbancă held a workshop titled “Reimagining Resistance in a Global Geopolitical Polycrisis,” focusing on Eastern Europe. They presented the situation in Georgia, Armenia and Moldova, inviting participants to reflect on the warning signs, turning points and missed opportunities that have shaped queer communities over the past five years. The discussion touched on the impact of war in the region and political shifts under the Trump administration.
The conversation then turned into a video game-inspired activity, where participants had to choose different paths and imagine ways to protect LGBT+ rights. The exercise brought participants into an active exchange of ideas on how to navigate an uncertain political landscape and build stronger networks of solidarity across the region.
The conference also offered an opportunity to connect with LGBT+ activists, organisations from across the region and explore potential partnerships.
